Tasmanian Fire Brigades Championships highlight the best in the business
The Rockliff Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of Tasmania’s career and volunteer firefighters and this weekend the best-of-the-best will compete in the Annual Tasmanian Fire Brigades Championships in Launceston.
Minister for Police Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, commended Tasmania’s career and volunteer firefighters for the incredible work they do in protecting communities throughout the State.
“Whether you are on the frontline or working in operational or support roles, together with your families you make great sacrifices to help keep the rest of us safe,” Minister Ellis said.
“Tasmanians have the upmost respect and gratitude for the work of our firefighters and in Tasmania we have some of the very best in the business.
“While the Championships are a chance for teams to compete, it is also a really important chance for visiting brigades to socialise, learn and have some fun in a relaxed environment with your mates.
“Best wishes to the 20 senior teams and 14 junior teams competing for honours today and I extend the heartfelt thanks of Tasmania for your outstanding service and commitment.
“This is also a timely reminder to everyone in our bushfire prone state to complete a bushfire plan and make sure all members of your family know how to respond in an emergency,” Minister Ellis said.
