Bushfire, why risk it?

As Tasmania enters the summer season, the Tasmanian Government is urging Tasmanians to take action and prepare for potential bushfires with the launch of a new awareness campaign – “Bushfire, why risk it?”.

The campaign will be seen across social media, television, radio, and print, reinforcing the message that now is the time to act.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said preparing a bushfire plan could save your life and the lives of those you love.

“Summer is here, and while we haven’t seen significant bushfires in Tasmania yet, it's important to be prepared,” Minister Ellis said.

“It’s vital that you know your risk, develop and practice your bushfire plan, and download the TasAlert app for the most up to date information.

“Through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re backing in our fire and emergency services to keep our communities safe this fire season.

“I urge everyone across Tasmania to visit the TFS website and find out more about how you can make your property summer-safe and prepare a bushfire plan.”
