One step closer to Pets in Rentals

The Residential Tenancy Amendment Bill 2024 has passed the House of Assembly, bringing the Government one step closer to ensuring Tasmanians don’t have to choose between a place to live and the pet they love.

Minister for Housing, Planning, and Consumer Affairs, Felix Ellis, said the Pets in Rentals legislation strikes the right balance.

“This Bill protects property owners, while also ensuring Tasmanians don’t have to choose between a place to live and the pet they love," Minister Ellis said.

“We promised Tasmanians we would deliver pets in rentals, and we’re now one step closer to fulfilling that.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Upper House to progress this legislation.”
