Unlocking Key Healthcare Worker Accommodation

A new 24-unit complex in Punchbowl has been secured for Launceston General Hospital’s key workers by the Tasmanian Liberal Government.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Felix Ellis said this is the first of the Government’s Key Worker Accommodation sites.

“Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are committed to delivering more key worker accommodation to grow Tasmanian frontline services,” Minister Ellis said.

“Our key workers, such as the Launceston General Hospital staff who will be utilising this accommodation, are the backbone of our communities.

“This key worker accommodation will increase the supply of affordable rentals to people who provide essential services to our cities and towns.”

This is the first key worker accommodation delivered by the Tasmanian Government, with other opportunities that can be strategically used to home key workers continuing to be sought.

This will allow dwellings previously rented for key workers to be released back into the housing market for long-term accommodation.
