Building a better TasTAFE for the future

The Rockliff Liberal Government is building opportunities for the next generation of Tasmanian workers.

Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth, Felix Ellis, said the Government is  building a better TasTAFE and delivering its $118 million plan to put learners at the centre.

“One of the biggest ticket items in our plan is the Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence, a $26 million project in Clarence,” Minister Ellis said.

“This huge project is now complete, and last week hosted its first classes for the next generation of Tassie tradies.

“We are getting rave reviews from employers and local sparkies that have been through the facility and cannot believe how good it is.

“In addition, we have now finished the Student Services Learning Hub at Clarence and the first ever TasTAFE Cyber Security Operations Centre, which will be opening within the next month.

“Further, the Freer Farm Agricultural Centre of Excellence is within weeks of completion, which will train hundreds of Tasmanians every year to get involved in our agriculture industry.

Minister Ellis also noted TasTAFE has this week launched the latest round of no-fee SKILL UP training places.

“More than 500 SKILL UP places are open for application, coming on top of the 1100 Tasmanians who have already benefitted from the program since it began in 2020,” he said.

“We are building a better TasTAFE for Tasmanians because this Government are builders, not blockers.

“We are building, spaces and places where learners can have a work class training experience and become part of Tasmania’s workforce of the future.

“We are excited about the future and we are getting on with the job.”
