Emergency personnel return home from Canada

Our expert Tasmanian personnel deployed to Canada have returned home this week from their overseas deployment.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, thanked the members of the Tasmania Fire Service, State Emergency Service, Parks and Wildlife Service and Sustainable Timbers Tasmania for their amazing efforts.

“I commend the work undertaken by our emergency service personnel who assisted on the frontline, logistics, public information and incident management while deployed in Canada,” Minister Ellis said.

“Our highly trained experts have been able to assist in difficult conditions, providing relief to exhausted fire crews battling more than 200 wildfires across more than 1.8 million hectares in Northern Alberta.

“The support they have provided, alongside nearly 200 personnel from Australia and New Zealand, is invaluable and Tasmanians are so proud of our incredible first responders.

“Our Government thanks our amazing experts for their commitment and service to the international effort.”
