Housing Land Supply Order takes next steps

The proposed Housing Land Supply (Kings Meadows) Order 2024 is one step closer having now passed through the Parliament’s disallowance period.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Felix Ellis said we’re getting on with the job of building more homes, faster.

“We’re freeing up affordable land and giving Tasmanian families the opportunity to build the homes that they want to live in,” Minister Ellis said.

“This new Housing Land Supply Order will create an estimated 100 new lots, with Homes Tasmania to progress subdivision and development.

“We are delivering on our target of an additional 10,000 social and affordable homes by 2032, a key commitment under this Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future,” he said.

The proposed Order will now be provided to the Tasmanian Planning Commission for rezoning as part of the process under the Housing Land Supply Act 2018.
