New Marrawah Fire Station a valuable asset for the local community
The Rockliff Liberal Government is committed to supporting Tasmania’s fire and emergency services personnel through the provision of high standard stations and equipment to keep them safe on the job.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said a new Marrawah Fire Station, currently under construction, is one way that the Rockliff Liberal Governments is keeping our North-West region safe.
“The new $1.4 million fire station has been designed to incorporate the Marrawah Community Hall so that it can also be used for Brigade training activities, office space and as a Forward Operations Centre during any large-scale emergencies in the area,” Minister Ellis said.
“The station will accommodate five vehicles, will include contemporary decontamination facilities, and will better support the 24 active firefighters based at Marrawah.
“This is a great investment for Marrawah, and a real collaborative effort from the Tasmania Fire Service, the Circular Head Council and the local community.
“Construction of the new station by a local Circular Head builder is expected to be completed by mid-year and in addition to providing the Brigade with a state-of-the-art facility, it will also provide the residents of Marrawah with a great community complex for decades to come.”
Minister Ellis said regional fire stations are important community assets and he was pleased to catch-up with Brigade Chief Shane Hine on Monday, the same day as the slab was poured at the new site.
